The Strategist

The most unpleasant eventuality becomes no more than a nuisance once The Strategist has prepared for it. With perseverance he will one day turn to find that his journey has been successful.

Łukasz Bytnar - System Administrator

The first computer he touched was a Commodore 64, and he owned his first PC at the age of 8.  Despite this young age he had the opportunity to use and become fluent in the intricacies of DOS and Windows 3.1.

At the end of primary school he started to learn how to "speak" with computers. His first languages were Pascal and C/C++.  He started to explore Linux, charmed by the magic of "the black screen".  He spent a lot of time on IRC and spent many long hours playing his favorite text game - MUD.

At University he met other nerds and with one of them established a Linux server called "Valkyra" for his classmates.  What started as a personal project grew to be a valuable resource for his fellow students.  Soon he was managing more then a hundred user accounts, and he had to very quickly learn about system security, account management, resource allocations, and the skills that make up system administration.

One day he was invited to one of the sessions of the Informatics Circle which operates in his University.  Soon after becoming a member he accepted the position of Chairman of the Circle.  He coordinated numerous projects and organized many lectures.

The last half year of his studies were spent in Sweden, where he was working on project generating dynamic maps using a Mobile Robot.

He joined Arces at the beginning of 2009, where he now works in a professional team and develops his knowledge amongst the other system administrators.

In his free time enjoys playing squash and rock climbing.
